Homologous repair deficiency (HRD) is present in several common cancer types including ovarian, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancer and renders tumors more sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapies as well as to PARP inhibition via synthetic lethality. Hence, the detection of HRD is crucial for identifying cancer patients who would benefit from treatment with PARPi.
