Amoy Diagnostics Co., Ltd (AmoyDx), a China-based innovative molecular diagnostics company (SZSE: 300685), announced that it has entered into a Companion Diagnostic Collaboration Agreement with AstraZeneca (LSE/STO/Nasdaq: AZN), a global biopharmaceutical company. According to the Agreement, AmoyDx's self-developed product AmoyDx® HRD Complete Panel, once approved, would serve as the companion diagnostic for the PARP inhibitor Lynparza® (olaparib), that is jointly developed and commercialized by AstraZeneca and Merck, known as MSD outside the United States and Canada. Olaparib is approved in China for the maintenance treatment of adult patients with advanced epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer who are in complete or partial response to 1st-line platinum-based chemotherapy in combination with bevacizumab, and whose cancer is associated with homologous recombination deficiency (HRD)-positive status.
At the end of 2021, AmoyDx signed a global strategic Master Collaboration Agreement with AstraZeneca for oncology companion diagnostics. This early implementation in the field of ovarian cancer companion diagnostics will expand the identification of patients who could benefit from olaparib treatment for ovarian cancer through HRD detection. Several China and international guidelines and expert consensuses have recognized HRD as a predictive biomarker for ovarian cancer patients receiving PARP inhibitor treatment. AmoyDx's proprietary algorithm, user-friendly and fast operation experience, have established its internationally leading position in the HRD detection field. The collaboration between AmoyDx and AstraZeneca on HRD companion diagnostics will enable more Chinese patients to access olaparib as soon as possible.
